Tape Art Founder

Michael Townsend is the founder of the Tape Art movement and the world's first practicing tape artist. Since 1989 he has created over 500 large-scale temporary murals on walls across the globe using only low-adhesive tape, collaborating with over 60,000 students and community members along the way. He is one of the artists behind the award-winning Netflix documentary Secret Mall Apartment and has worked with organizations ranging from General Electric to schools, healing centers, and correctional facilities. His work sits at the intersection of art, community, and human connection.
